Unveiling of Arthur Borton Memorial Stone
On Tuesday 7th November, Hunton CEP School was honoured to host the unveiling of the Arthur Borton Memorial Stone. Arthur Borton was the brother of Biffy Borton who our year 5/6 class is named after. Cllr Brian Mortimer lead the service and we were privileged to have a living Victoria Cross winner in attendance. The whole school capped off the ceremony with a stirring rendition of 'God Save the Queen.'
The Mayor of Maidstone, Malcolm Greer, who was in attendance commented:
'It was an honour to attend your school today, on the occasion of unveiling a commemorative tablet to Lt. Co. Arthur Drummond Borton. You should be so proud of the pupils at your school, who behaved beautifully in the cold and sang so well. It was really moving. I was also pleased to be able to involve a couple of the children in the unveiling.'
