Physical Education (PE)

At Hunton CE Primary School, children will benefit from a core PE curriculum within our Christian Vision of living ‘Life in all its Fullness’ (John 10:10) and our key values of ‘Compassion’, ‘Joy’, Perseverance’ and ‘Respect’.

Our PE curriculum gives our children the knowledge and skills needed to be successful. The PE curriculum has been carefully sequenced with the use of the ‘Get Set 4 PE’ Scheme. Our PE curriculum supports the development of children physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally to prepare them for their next learning journey.

We have carefully sequenced the progression of knowledge and skills:

Physical Education provision is strong at Hunton. Pupils participate in a range of Physical Education covering gymnastics, games and dance.

Swimming

In Year 3, our children attend swimming lessons at Mote Park Leisure Centre.

Hunton uses the 5 Key PE Indicators as a core part of our sports and PE curriculum and extra-curricular sporting experiences and opportunities. These are:

  • Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity: Helping all children meet the Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines of at least 60 minutes of active play per day.
  • Raising the profile of PE and sport: Integrating physical education as a tool for whole-school improvement.
  • Staff confidence, knowledge, and skills: Providing continuous professional development for teachers and staff to deliver high-quality sessions.
  • Broader experience of activities: Offering a wider, more inclusive range of sports and activities to all pupils.
  • Increased participation in competitive sport: Developing pathways and encouraging students to participate in local, regional, or national competitions

These are also used to plan, monitor and evidence our spending of Sports Premium, found below:
