Welcome to Devas Class
The land our school is built on was kindly donated by the Devas family when they lived at Hunton House. As a small token of our appreciation, our Reception class has been named Devas in their honor. Mrs Gillian Devas and her dog Daisy frequently came into school to hear children read. She also enjoyed watching our EYFS/KS1 Nativity play at Christmas and allowed the children in multiple years to go to her house to sing carols and spread Christmas Joy.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) consists of seven areas of learning and development.

We are extremely lucky to have a fantastic learning environment both inside and out that provides plenty of opportunities for the children to explore, investigate, discover and problem solve. We provide continuous provision (resources and areas that are accessible all year round) and enhanced provision (additional or adapted resources that challenge the children’s learning, enhance specific skills or follow their specific interests.)
To support their transition, each Reception child is paired up with a pupil from Year 6 during one of their initial transition sessions. Pupils, regardless of year group get to spend time together during playtime and lunchtime. Our Buddy system gives our youngest pupils a friendly face from day one but also allows our older children to take on a mentoring role. Throughout the year, the children have different opportunities to spend time together. For example, our Teddy Bear’s Picnic, settling sessions, Come and Play, sharing work and planned Reading sessions.
