Borton Class Year 5 & Year 6

Borton class

Borton class (Year 5 and 6) at Hunton Church of England Primary School is named in honour of Amyas Eden Borton, a distinguished local figure with strong ties to the Hunton and Maidstone area. Known as “Biffy” to his friends and colleagues, Borton served with great distinction in the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War and later in the Royal Air Force, rising to the senior rank of Air Vice-Marshal. His military career took him across several theatres of war, and he became recognised for his leadership and contribution to the early development of military aviation.

The naming of the class reflects the school’s tradition of celebrating individuals and families who have played an important role in the history of the local community. The Borton family itself is closely connected with Hunton, and Amyas Borton’s legacy as both a local resident and a nationally significant figure makes him a fitting inspiration for pupils, living out our four Christian Values and our school Vision: to live ‘Life in all its Fullness.’ John 10:10

In Borton, we pride ourselves in encouraging the children to become independent both in personal organisation, and in their learning. Alongside equipping the children with the knowledge and skills they need in their next stage of education, we also provide trips (including a residential to PGL), tournaments and experiences to make primary school both memorable and to ensure they feel prepared for transition to secondary school.
